This is where the road ends

High up in Uttrakhand in India, there is a village which claims to mark the end of the road as we know it.

It’s called Munsiyari.

I spent two days there recently. Munsiyari is the base camp for spectacular treks close to the border with Tibet

It also attracts many tourists, many of whom are Bengali. They come for crisp weather and breathtaking views of the Panchachuli glacier.

Sitting on the balcony outside room 301 at Pandey’s Lodge on a full moon night, can be exhilarating, and exhausting.

Sleep is luxury before such beauty
